Error Messages and how to fix them

Here are the most common error messages that are sent in response to your uploads.  The error messages that you see in your processing error report are not going to match exactly as your error messages will have your item specific information in them.  Please find the error message that most closely resembles yours and click on the link to be taken to the full explanation.

This error indicates that you have chosen an invalid attribute value for the attribute ID.  Please refer to the Item Class/Attributes Mapping for all valid values for each attribute ID. See below screenshot.

This indicates that the attribute you have chosen for this item class is not valid.  Please check the Item Class Attribute Mapping files for valid attributes for the item class you would like your item to be found OR change the item class for the item.

When an item is being created, we will verify that there is a valid response to the image URL supplied.  When our image sweeper pings the host site for the image it expects to receive a response.  When no response is received or an invalid response is received, your item is taken offline due to an invalid image URL.  You will need to replace the image URL in your product or change the image on the back end of the URL and then re-upload the feed for processing.

This particular error relates to your images.  When creating an item, our servers ping the image URL to verify that it is valid.  The returned response from the host server is contradictory to the URL information; meaning that you have uploaded an image that is labeled incorrectly.  A JPG extension needs to correlate to an actual JPG image and not a BMP or GIF

This indicates that you have entered the same image URL multiple times in the same item.  Please find the item causing the error and review the image URLs and remove the duplicate and replace it with either another image or remove it altogether.

This error indicates that you have included a duplicate item ID in the file. Please refer back to your original upload and remove the duplicate item information OR change the item ID for one of the line items

This error indicates that there are too many errors in the item creation process to list.  Please locate the item in your catalog feed and verify that you have built it properly.  Should you not see the error, please reach out to Seller Support via the ‘Contact Us’ form for assistance.

HTML is only useable in the long and short description of an item.  Please remove any and all HTML tags from your title, long description or any other areas outside of the short description and re-upload.

This indicates that the image URL that you have provided is not in a valid format.  Please review the images causing this error and make sure that they are in a useable format.

The item that you are attempting to delete has already been removed from your catalog

As this example shows, some item classes are not valid for the Sears Marketplace program.  Appliances is one of the restricted categories.  Should you receive this message, please remove the item from your catalog feed as it is not allowed to be sold on Sears Marketplace.  If you believe this to be an error, please select a new item class for your item.

When using a generic template, you must input the item class.  Please locate the item ID causing the error and verify that you have input the item class number and not just the path name

This particular error message is a result of a connection being reset during your upload process.  This can happen on part of Sears?s servers or the seller’s.  Please re-upload the file that you received this error from.

We require that if you are using a long description for your item that it be different from your short description.  Please locate the item causing the error and make the necessary changes to your long or short description making them unique.

There is a limit to the number of characters in the long description.  Please limit your long description to 5000 characters.

The description you have entered has been found to contain a profane word.  Please review your content for any words that may be used in a profane manner.  If you are unsure as to which word is causing the error, please reach out to Seller Support via the ‘Contact Us’ form for assistance.

This error is related to your free shipping offer at the item level.  All item level free shipping promotions will automatically include the “Free Shipping” promotional language.  Adding this to the promotional text will cause an error.  Consider different language that does not include “free” and “shipping”.

This error indicates that you have input a value into the shipping price field that is not within the acceptable price range.  Pricing for shipping cannot be less than $0.01 or greater than $500.00.  Please find the item that has caused this error and retype the price or set up oversized shipping for this item

There is a limit to the number of characters in the short description.  Please limit your short description to 2400 characters and move the rest of the description into your Long Description.

This is a generic message indicating that there was a problem during the upload and processing of your catalog feed.  Please retry uploading your feed after 30 ? 60 minutes to allow for the error to clear.  Should you continue to experience this error message, please open a contact us form.

This error indicates that you have chosen to use an item class that is no longer valid for Sears Marketplace.  This item class may have been valid at one point in time but has since been removed from the site.  Please find the item causing the error and replace the item class.

All items require a manufacturer model number.  This model number cannot be more than 40 characters long and cannot contain spaces or special characters.  Please locate the item in question that is causing this error and make the necessary changes to the manufacturer model number and re-upload the item.

This error indicates that you have input a value into the price field that is not in the right format.  Please find the item that has caused this error and retype the price.

This error indicates that you are trying to update pricing on an item that has not yet made it into your catalog.  If you have just uploaded the item into your catalog, please allow ample time (up to 15 minutes) for the items to process fully and appear in your catalog.  If you are sure that it has been more than 15 minutes, please search your catalog for the item to verify that it is indeed there.

When creating a variation item, you must have all of the same variation attributes for all items.  This means that if you choose a color attribute for your variation group that all items within that variation group must have the color attribute filled in.  They can be different colors but all items must have a color.  For more information on how to build a variation item, please visit our knowledge articles about variations.

This error indicates that the UPC that you have provided is not valid.  UPCs are currently required in the most categories.  Only valid 12-digit or 13-digit numeric values are accepted.  Please do not use non-numeric characters.

Each item must have a unique UPC.  Please locate the item that caused the error and replace the UPC or eliminate it altogether.  UPC numbers are not required.

This error indicates that you are trying to create multiple items within a variation group with the same attributes.  For example, a red t-shirt with a size large listed multiple times within the same variation group will need to have an attribute that differentiates them.  Adding sleeve length short and long to the different items will create unique listings.
