Shipping calculations

When setting up your items for Sears Marketplace you are required to enter the shippable dimensions and weight for each item.  You are also given an option to specify the shipping amount you’d like to charge for Ground, Expedited, and Premium.

The dimensions of the items are first reviewed to see whether the item is a ‘mailable’ item or a ‘non-mailable’ item (see red below).  Once this is determined the sum of all mailable item shipping and all non-mailable item shipping is added together to determine the total amount.

IF YOU SPECIFY AN ‘NA’ IN THE SHIPPING COST FIELDS
The assumption will be made that you do not wish to offer that shipping type for that item.  For example if you specify $3.49 for Ground Shipping, $6.99 for Expedited Shipping, and ‘NA’ for Premium, the customer would not have the option to select Premium Shipping for that item.

IF YOU SPECIFY AN AMOUNT IN THE SHIPPING COST FIELDS
The amount that you specified for that item and shipping type will be charged to the customer, regardless of what the Shipping Rates table shows.

IF YOU SPECIFY NOTHING IN THE SHIPPING COST FIELDS or THE ITEM IS DEEMED NON-MAILABLE
The price charged for shipping will be based on the shipping table exclusively (based on the item weight).

Please see the attached calculator to see if an item would classify as mailable or non-mailable based on its dimensions.  The actual formula is described below.

FORMULA

(largeDim + 2 * (height + width + length – largeDim)) > 130

EXAMPLE OF MAILABLE

H = 10

W = 15

L = 30

(30 + 2 * (10 + 15 + 30 – 30)) > 130

(30 + 2 * (25) > 130

(30 + 50) > 130

80 > 130

False – therefore this item defaults to the mailable shipping table in the Seller Portal (shipping determined by weight)

***********************************************

EXAMPLE OF NON-MAILABLE

H = 25

W = 50

L = 100

(100 + 2 * (25 + 50 + 100 – 100)) > 130

(100 + 2 * (75) > 130

(100 + 150) > 130

250 > 130

True – therefore this item defaults to the non-mailable shipping table in the Seller Portal (shipping determined by weight)

Once the mailable vs. non-mailable calculation is completed, sears.com then looks at the weight of the item and compares it to the shipping table you have created under Account Settings>Shipping Rates.  This shipping amount is then applied to the item being purchased.
